I am getting questions regarding Walker of Aldenor from time to time.

Question:
I cannot download Walker of Aldenor from Google Play. Why?
Anwer:
The game is no longer available on Google Play and thus cannot be found or downloaded in here. As is right now I have no plans to ever return to releasing any of my games on Google Play or for Android in general. This decision is due to constant changes on Google’s end that makes long-term support for any games borderline impossible. Combined with their agressive push toward constantly forcing developers to only support latest versions of Android and dropping support for older versions I decided to not participate in this environment anymore.
I plan on releasing Legacy versions of my existing Android games on Itch.io.
Question:
Walker of Aldenor requires informations about my position or physical activities. Why?
Anwer:
Walker of Aldenor is a location based game without the need for actual location in real world. The game is only working with physical steps that are being counted either by stepcounter or accelerometer.
Stepcounter is what might be asking for these permissions during installation or when activated because it is asking your android device for the number of steps that you walked since the last check and Android would like to know if you are ok with providing such information.
Accelerometer is my legacy support for older phones or phones without build in stepcounter solution. The steps counted by accelerometer are not as precise and it requires the app to be running in focus (on your screen) in order to work.
Question:
I can’t select Stepcounter when game asks me for prefered input or in settings!
Anwer:
Every Android device with Android 5.1 or higher should be equipped with Pedometer API (which is what is being referred to as Stepcounter). It is possible that either you denied the game the permission to use it (whether on purpose or by accident). Or it is denied by default by your device manufacturer. Or maybe you are running some kind of altered Android and it might either not include this API at all or require some extra steps to activate it. Because of this I really can’t assist you with this kind of issue as I only can get my hands on few devices at a time. But I would like to hear about this issue if you experienced it, preferably with the name of manufacturer and device model name.
Question:
The game is crashing!
Anwer:
I have been informed that some devices with Android 11 are running into issues while trying to run Walker of Aldenor and the game crashes sometimes. I already tried to make it compatible by updating the whole project to work with Android 11+, Android API 30+ and latest Android permissions guidelines. But it seems like the game is still causing some issues on certain devices. I was not able to recreate this issue at all in virtual environment.
Question:
I don’t know how to play your game!
Anwer:
Walker of Aldenor is motivational sandbox game. There is no other goal in the game then to motivate yourself and survive along the way in the game world. You should probably start by doing the story quests. These work like tutorial. Also if you feel lost without knowing how to play the game or how to control it, you can always refer to in game help button „?“ where you can find some basic info about the game mechanics and some other useful info. If you can’t see „?“ on your screen then it’s possible that it’s hidden. This can be changed in the settings – simply uncheck „Hide help button“.
Question:
The whole UI disapeared! Why?
Anwer:
I implemented screenshot view into the game. This can be accessed or dismissed by long swipe from left to right or from right to left. I have plans to add button to disable this function from settings in the future.
Question:
How do I get Booster MK2?
Anwer:
Booster MK2 used to be reward for watching voluntery ad. With latest changes forced by google I decided to remove any monetisation from the game and access to Booster MK2 with it.
The game has been discontinued since and cannot be downloaded. With re-release on Itch.io this might change.
